May 22nd – Jams and Jellies – Food Preservation Seminar Series at Garden Gate Green House, 3415 E. 500 S. at 6:30 pm. We are pleased to offer a series of seminars this year focused on preserving food. Discussion will involve the difference between types of jellied fruit products, function/proportions of ingredients in a jellied product, and different ways to extract the fruit for juices. Jane will discuss standard vs reduced sugar jellied products, and using powdered or liquid pectin. She will also speak on reasons for poor quality jellied products and recommend corrections. Demonstrations will be given of making jams and jelly on the stove and in a jelly maker. The cost will be $10 for each seminar.
